So it comes to pass that Christine Ohuruougo, star pupil at the Richard Madeley School Of Absent-Mindedness, gets nominated for the Sports Personality Of The Year Award.
You can imagine how much it pains everyone at 5EW to pray for a Lewis Hamilton victory.

That's Racing
A visibly choked Felipe Massa trying to be pleased at winning the race whilst losing the Championship, and succeeding in being humble in defeat.
That's racing.
Kudos too to Hamilton senior for recognising the struggle and effort that Massa has made this year.
That's racing.
Such a shame then that ITV's coverage showed the usual bias in claiming that had Massa won, it would have been down to the stewards and not his ability. And Mark Blundell claiming that the BBC will have "a hard job" improving on ITV's coverage?
That's garbage.
All the BBC has to do is turn up and we're already better off. The countdown to March starts now.

Out With A Bang
Tough one, this. Final Grand Prix of the year, title up for grabs. Lewis Hamilton essentially just needs to turn up, and when the lad says that he's learnt from past mistakes and can handle the pressure, we have to take him at his word and rule him out of the win market.
Felipe Massa needs the win at all costs but at 6/4 is a bit short. Team games will be a factor here so look to Kovalainen to go for the defensive win, at a massive 25/1 via BetFred.
Double that in with 45/23 via Betfair for the winning car to be a McLaren, and Christmas will be coming early.
And a nod to fellow 5EW bod Ferret for pointing out that at the Olympics, the Brazilian team had "bra" written on their chests. Like, duh.

The China Probrem
is an episode of South Park which mercilessly ridicules Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, and is not a cheap and tasteless joke.
Felipe Massa's probrem (typo) is that he needs to win win win, whereas all title rival Lewis Hamilton has to do is turn up. Hence, get on the Brazilian to win at 9/4 via William Hill.
Additionarry, Betfair have Mark Webber for a points finish at 20/11
So solly.

Japs? Aye.
Japan is an island across the sea. We went there once and we remember the scenery.
Betfair has Massa at 39/19 for the win and that's the one to be on. Raikkonen will have to yield if both scarlett cars are in the running and Hamilton has already said he will play the percentages, so it's only the plucky Brazilian who'll be going to the max.
And Sasaki was a rock star.

Singapore Sting
Thing is, we said that Monza would suit the Ferrari engine, and so it did. The winning Toro Rosso car was powered by a Ferrari motor. Such a fine line between clever and stupid.
F1's new Asian adventure starts this weekend and it's going to be tricky. New circuit, new night-time setting, possible precipitation - it's a tough call and only the hardest need apply. We're throwing a few out there to see how many stick.
Underperforming nearly-star Rosberg could pull a fast one, 28/11 for a points finish via Betfair. And championship outsider Kubica must be worth a shot at 7/2 via a number of outlets (inc. Paddy Power) for a podium slot.
The win market is like dancing on ice, but Betfair and Betdaq's 48/29 price for Hamilton to win is too much to ignore.
Have you seen the ingredients of a Singapore Sling? Wouldn't touch that for love nor money, and that's coming from someone who's drunk blue things with a straw.

US Ryder meltdown beckons
It's not often that I bet in running but William Hill's quote of 12/5 for EUROPE to clinch the RYDER CUP has forced my hand. Although the USA lead 9-7 going into the final series a glance at the final singles clashes can only lead to one conclusion. This is a definite case of head ruling heart as I always support the USA in this event. But there you go, I'm a professional ain't I. I feel Europe's true price should be no longer than 7-4 so we are getting superb value here. As ever.
